| Dilyana Kirova Piano, Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, Oboe and Bassoon
Dilyana Kirova, a native of Bulgaria, grew up in a musical family and started playing the bassoon and piano at the age of 12. After graduating from the School of Music and Arts in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, she enrolled in the State Academy of Music in Sofia where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree. During several summers she attended master classes at the Prague-Vienna-Budapest International Summer Academy in Austria. She earned a Masters Degree in Music from Catholic University of Americ, where she is currently working toward her Doctoral Degree as a student of Truman Harris, Assistant Principal Bassoon of the National Symphony Orchestra. Dilyana Kirova is a prizewinner of several competitions, including the prestigious Antonin Reicha Competition in Austria, and the Contemporary Austrian Composers Competition. She has recorded for the Bulgarian National Television and Radio, and has performed as soloist at concertos in Bulgaria, Austria and the United States. Recently, she performed at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC; had a solo recital at the Millenium Stage (Kennedy Center); and also played with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. Dilyana is currently playing with the woodwind quintet, Around the World. She is presently performing for the Washington Performing Arts Society and also she has been a music teacher and accompanist for the Montgomery County Arts Council and Play's the Thing (Workshop for Children).
